Rights Respecting Schools Council 2026 Update
This academic year, our Rights Respecting Schools Council has continued to play an active role in promoting children’s rights, inclusion, and equality across the school. Pupils have engaged in meaningful projects designed to strengthen their understanding of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and apply these principles within the school community.
Spring Term
During Spring Term, council members worked collaboratively on a creative project aimed at tackling racism in sport. Pupils designed an anti‑racism poster suitable for display in sports stadiums, with the aim of encouraging respect, unity, and fair treatment for all. This initiative aligns with UNCRC Article 2 – Non‑discrimination, which highlights every child’s right to be treated fairly and protected from discrimination.
Summer Term
In Summer Term, the council will participate in a series of activities and whole‑school assemblies to celebrate Neurodiversity Awareness Week. These sessions will help pupils recognise and value the diverse ways people think and learn, promoting empathy and strengthening inclusion. This work supports UNCRC Article 23 – Children with disabilities, ensuring that all children are supported to participate fully in school life.

We will now review next steps and actions required to move confidently towards achieving the Silver Award.
