Spring Term

Our current theme is:

 'Time Traveller'

These are the enquiry questions that the children have created to focus on this Spring Term:

Base Camp Day

We had a fun Base Camp Day for our new topic ‘Time Traveller.’ We wrote about our memories as a class, looked at baby pictures of the teachers in the school and made a toy from the past! 

Autumn Term

Our current theme is:

 'Our World, Our Planet'

These are the enquiry questions that the children have created to focus on this Autumn Term:

Base Camp Day

To kick start our theme we took part in our 'Base Camp' day! We explored the world on google earth and decided to focus on the arctic and extinct species. We enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities such as building an igloo out of sugar cubes and creating our own dinosaur skeletons! 

Horse riding

This autumn term we have been fortunate enough to go horse riding with RDA every Friday! We will be attending these sessions in small groups until December. 

Sensory Room

This term our new sensory room opened. We feel incredibly lucky to have our very own sensory room where we can explore and engage our senses safely. 

Some of our learning in the Autumn term:

We enjoyed a visit to the Bridgend Life Centre to take part in their first Inclusive Insport Event, finished with a trip to the park!

We read the story 'The Little Red Hen' and decided to make bread just like in the story, but before we did that we needed to write a list of ingredients and buy them from our local shop! After our trip to the shop, we followed the recipe and made our own delicious bread rolls, topped with jam and butter. 

We learnt about the importance of recycling during Recycling Week and sorted different materials into recycling groups and created our own posters.

During Black History Month, we learnt about Rosa Parks and how her actions changed history forever! We enjoyed creating our own buses with Rosa Parks inside.

Whilst learning about how powerful our world can be, we enjoyed creating a volcano eruption. We had so much fun!

We have been reading 'The Gingerbread Man' and to finish off our writing journey we designed our own gingerbread character and followed a recipe to make them - they were delicious.
