Spring Term
This term, our whole school topic is 'Express It!'.
We celebrated our Base Camp Days by 'dressing to express ourselves'. We discussed our choice of outfits/ clothing and why it is important to us.
We drew around our friends, and wrote as may different emotions/ expressions/ feelings that we could think of.
Then, we used the Freeze Frame technique to portray an emotion and our friends had to guess it correctly.
We finished our Base Camp Day by creating an 'Express It' class mural together, showing all the jigsaw pieces fitting together to create one wonderful class!
From our base camp day celebrations, the pupils have decided upon these three enquiry questions to focus our learning this term:
- 1)What is art?
- 2) Where does colour come from?
- 3) How do we communicate?
Autumn Term
This term, our whole school topic is 'Battles and Bravery'.
Our class focus is The Iron Age, The Celts. From our Base Camp Day activities, we have decided to focus our learning on the following enquiry questions;
- 1) Who are the Celts?
- 2) What are roundhouses?
- 3) What were the battles like?
Base Camp Day
For Base Camp Day this term, we completed a carousel of activities to inspire our learning about our new topic, 'Battles and Bravery'. We made Celtic shields, explored drawing and creating Celtic patterns and began researching some interesting facts using a range of sources.

St Fagans Trip
We visited St Fagans were we got to explore the National Historical Museum. We were able to explore the Celtic Roundhouse, Bryn Eryr. We had a guided tour of the roundhouse and we were able to learn about the Celts, including how they made the roundhouses, how they lived their lives and how the fought in battles! We were able to share our knowledge with the guide and ask the questions that we have been discussing in class.
